Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Awami League could not come to power in the 2001 elections. Because, I did not want to hand over my wealth to others. I didn’t want to sell gas. I don’t do the politics of selling the country. I am the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib. I love the country.
He said these things by joining the election rally of Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Satkhira, Netrakona, Rangamati, Bamna and Patharghata of Barguna virtually on Saturday afternoon. He joined from Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon of the capital.
Pointing out that BNP did not participate in the 12th National Assembly elections, the Awami League president said that they (BNP-Jamaat) have come back with the terrible form of arson that they did in 2013-14 in the name of preventing the vote.
He said that the way BNP-Jamaat had tortured the people of Bangladesh cannot be expressed in words. They can be compared with the Pakistani invasion force in 1971.
The Prime Minister said that BNP has started again the same way it started arson in 2013-14 in the name of preventing elections. Burning trains, burning people to death.
Sheikh Hasina said, a few days ago, the train was set on fire, the fish plate was removed, the train compartment fell and one person died there. Burning the bus, the sleeping helper died. Just like this they started arson again. Burning people to death on the railway…a mother sitting with her child on her breast, she and the child were burnt to coal. If there is humanity in a person, this cannot happen.
Awami League president asked who the leader of BNP was and said that the top two of the party are convicted convicts. Khaleda Zia is a convicted accused due to embezzlement of orphan’s money and various corruptions. Khaleda Zia’s sentence has been suspended and she has been allowed to stay at home on the request of her siblings. The government has shown humanity in this regard.
The Chief Minister said, BNP is not a political party. They are a terrorist group. And Jamaat is a group of war criminals. The country should be kept free from them. No one will be allowed to play with the fate of Bangladesh.
Pointing out that Tariq Rahman is burning people on orders from abroad, Sheikh Hasina said, those who are setting fires, killing people, they will be partakers of the sin. He (Tareq) is good at gambling there. He ordered, and here the BNP workers danced. If you have courage, come to the country. The people of the country will take revenge for these killings.
Sheikh Hasina said that the election has been opened. So all the candidates have to go to the people. I want the election to be peaceful. Let the people exercise their right to vote. I want to protect democracy. If there is a democratic environment, rules and regulations, the country improves.
