Two died in enemy fire, procession with dead bodies

District Representative, Kushtia.In Kushtia’s Daulatpur, two people named Dinu Mandal and Aktar Mandal died due to fire in the case of setting fire to the opponent’s residence due to land dispute and expansion of dominance. In protest of this incident and demanding the punishment of the criminals, the family of the deceased and the local people held a human chain and protest march with the dead body.

On Tuesday (May 2) at around 9 am in Chilmari village of Chilmari Union of Daulatpur Upazila, a protest march and human chain was made with the dead bodies. About 5 thousand people participated in the human chain.

Deceased Aktar Mandal (40) son of Tofazzal Hossain of Chilmari village and Dinu Mandal (65) son of Dabir Mandal of the same village. Akhtar Mondal and Dinu Mondal died last Sunday (April 30) morning while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn Institute in Dhaka. After the post-mortem at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the atmosphere of the area became heavy with the cries of the deceased’s relatives after their bodies arrived at Chilmari around one o’clock on Monday. They were buried at the local cemetery after the funeral at around 10 am.

Besides, Farooq Mandal (22) of the same village was seriously injured in the fire given by the opponent in Sheikh Hasina National Burn Institute, Abdur Rahman Kazi’s son Saidul Kazi (30) in Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bishu Mandal’s son Fazlu Doctor in Dhaka Pangu Hospital and injured and burned approx. 10 are under treatment at Kushtia General Hospital.

During the procession with the dead bodies, a protester said that Dinu and Akhtar Mandal were killed in a pre-planned manner by pouring petrol and setting them on fire. Many are under treatment in hospital with serious injuries. We want exemplary punishment for the criminals.

Relatives of those killed in the human chain said that with the intention of burning them to death, the opponents poured petrol and set fire to their houses and cut them with various weapons and seriously injured around 25 people. 15 people are under treatment in Dhaka and Kushtia General Hospital due to fire. Aktar Mandal and Dinu Mandal died in Dhaka while undergoing treatment. They demanded exemplary punishment for the killers and attackers.

Abdul Mannan, chairman of Chilmari Union, said, “We want exemplary punishment for those involved in the brutal and brutal murder.” Two were killed and about 25 were seriously injured in enemy petrol bomb fire. In this regard, Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Rahman said that Aktar Mondal and Dinu Mondal died in Dhaka while undergoing treatment. Their burial has been completed. Additional police are currently deployed at the scene. The situation is under police control. 21 accused have been arrested in this incident. The operation to arrest the rest of the accused is continuing.

It is to be noted that last Thursday (April 27) from noon to afternoon in Chilmari Bazarpara of Chilmari Union of the upazila, the opponents attacked the people of Mandal group and poured petrol on fire in their residence based on land dispute, prior enmity and spread of dominance. At least 20 to 25 people were injured, including 5 with severe burns. In this incident last Friday afternoon, the local Mojam Mandal filed a case against 100-120 unknown defendants along with the names of 73 people. RAB and police arrested 14 accused that day and night. The court has already granted bail to all the arrested accused. The family and locals of the deceased have expressed their dissatisfaction over the bail incident.
