The main social and religious festival of the Chittagong Hill Tracts ‘Vaisabi’ has started. On Tuesday (April 12), the Chakmas are celebrating ‘Ful Biju’ today by worshiping flowers in the river for the Goddess Ganga.
Hundreds of Chakma children, teenagers, young men and women of different ages gathered at the Khabangpuja area of Khagrachhari Sadar in the morning to give flowers to the Chengi river. Before sunrise the Chakmas gathered in groups on the banks of the river.
Some are alone and many are lined up and offer flowers of different colors in the river. As if the Chengi river became colorful. In addition, the city, the various canals in the suburbs and the natural spread is full of flowers. Little children cheered in the river and called for a new year. Earlier they collected flowers.
Next Wednesday (April 13) the Tripuras will start the ‘Baisu’ and the first Baishakh Marmara ‘Sangrai’ festival. Tripura’s ‘Goraya Nritya’ and Marma’s ‘Pani Utsav’ are some of the attractions of the New Year in the hills.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere of the festival has spread in the hills and villages around Vaisabi. The hills are full of traditional sports. After overcoming the stress of Corona for the last two years, the hill people are celebrating Vaisabi in a colorful way.
