Five passengers of a CNG-powered autorickshaw were killed when a bus hit them at Sherpur in Bogra. The accident took place at around 5 pm on Wednesday (January 26) at Ranirhat intersection in Mirzapur union of the upazila.
Warehouse Inspector Nadir Hossain of Sherpur Fire Service confirmed the incident to Dhaka Post. He said the dead included four men and a woman. The names of the dead were not immediately known.
Witnesses said a bus belonging to Hanif Enterprise was speeding towards Bogra. Five people died on the spot when the bus hit the Sirajganj-bound autorickshaw. Later, Sherpur Highway Police and Fire Service personnel came to the spot and recovered the bodies.
AKM Baniul Anam, in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Outpost, said the Hanif Enterprise bus hit a CNG-powered autorickshaw on the Dhaka-Bogra highway in the Rajapur area of Mirzapur. Five passengers of the autorickshaw died on the spot. The bus driver fled. The bus was seized. Attempts are being made to identify the victims.
