Like every year, a 10-day boat race has started on the Ichhamati river in Santhia, Pabna. Following this, the traditional boating competition on the Ichhamati River organized by Santhia Municipality was inaugurated on Saturday afternoon under the chairmanship of Municipal Mayor Mahbubul Alam Bachchu as the chief guest. The final competition will be held on September 26, the birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Thousands of men and women from Pabna and surrounding districts flocked to the banks of the Ichhamati River from noon to see this traditional boat race in rural Bengal. As if there is no place to catch sesame.
Also present on the occasion were Upazila Executive Officer SM Jamal Ahmed, Central Executive Member of Bangladesh Awami Juba League Ad, Ashif Shams Ranjan, Former Mayor Mirajul Islam Pramanik, General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Tapan Haider Sun, President of Municipal Awami League Abul Kashem, President of Upazila Awami League. Sudheejan along with Ashrafuzzaman Tutul were present.
On the opening day, Bengal Rocket, Vijay Bangla, Syedpur Express, Sher-e-Bangla Vitapara, Mayer Doa Afra, Salangi Express Salangi, Ichhamati Express Kalaichara, Bagchi Challengers, Huikhali Express, Sardar Express Hengua, Bhai Bhai took part in the competition.
