China is mediating a ceasefire between the country’s army and the Arakan Army in Myanmar’s Rakhine state. China’s Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen has said that if there is a cease-fire, the way to discuss Rohingya repatriation will be smooth.

Asked about the conflict situation in Myanmar’s Rakhine, Yao Wen told reporters, “We discussed the security situation in Rakhine and repatriation.” We also know that repatriation is now somewhat problematic.
Regarding the Teesta project, he said, we discussed in broad terms and not about any specific project. China has proposed the Teesta project to Bangladesh and they will decide on it.
