Medical admission test on February 9

The MBBS admission test for the academic year (2023-24) of public and private medical colleges across the country will be held on February 9. For this, all coaching centers will be closed one month before.

The date of the admission test was announced in the meeting related to the MBBS and BDS admission test for the academic year 2023-24 in the meeting room of the Ministry of Health on Sunday (December 24). Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek presided over it.

Health Minister Zahid Malek said that there was no irregularity or corruption in the MBBS admission test in the last 10 years. All effective measures have been taken to ensure that there is no irregularity or negligence in this year’s examination.

Referring to the time of the exam, the Health Minister said that the MBBS admission exam for the academic year 2023-2024 will be held on February 9, 2024 and the dental admission exam will be held on March 8 at 10 am. All coaching centers will be closed from one month before this exam i.e. from 9th January to 9th February/2024.

Referring to the admission test application time, the health minister said that foreign students can apply for the MBBS admission test this year from January 4. Domestic students can apply from January 10, 2024. Last date of application will be 23rd January, 2024 AD. Admission fee deposit will be started from 24th January and roll or seat allotment will be from 26th January. The exam admit card will be distributed on January 5 and the attendance sheet will be available to download on February 8. Health Minister Zahid Malek mentioned that the passing mark in the MBBS examination this year has been fixed as 40 marks.

Referring to the total number of seats in this year’s MBBS admission test during the briefing, the health minister said that there are 5380 seats for government medical, of which 1030 seats have been increased this year. There are 6348 seats for private medical and 375 seats are allotted for Army Medical Colleges and Hospitals.

As the automation system has been introduced in the admission test, only the meritorious candidates will get admission in the government and private medical college hospitals this year without any lobbying after the exam.

During the briefing, health minister was accompanied by secretary of healthcare department Jahangir Alam, secretary of health education department Azizur Rahman, director general of health department ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of health education department professor Titu Mia, president of private medical association Mubin Khan, BMRC representative professor Shahidullah, VC professor of Sylhet Osmani Medical University. Enayet Hossain, BMRC representatives, representatives of private medical colleges and hospitals and senior officials of both ministries were present.
