The nomination papers of popular YouTuber Ashraful Hossain Alam alias Hero Alam, who submitted his nomination papers as a Bangladesh Congress candidate for Bogra-4 (Kahalu-Nandigram) constituency, have been cancelled.
His nomination papers have been declared canceled after scrutiny on Sunday due to various errors including not signing the affidavit and ancillary documents.
Deputy Commissioner and returning officer. Saiful Islam said that Hero Alam submitted the nomination paper as a party candidate but did not mention the name of the party in the nomination paper. Submitted photocopy of party nomination instead of original copy. If you want to elect separately, you have to submit the signature of 1 percent of the voters along with the nomination paper, that was not there either. Apart from this, Hero Alam did not sign the affidavit. Again, there was no asset declaration form with the affidavit. Hero Alam’s nomination papers have been canceled due to these errors. He can appeal if he wants.
Last Thursday afternoon, his personal assistant Sujan Rahman submitted nomination papers on behalf of Hero Alam at the returning officer’s office. Returning Officer Saiful Islam accepted his nomination papers. A day before this, on Wednesday, Hero Alam announced the contest from Bangladesh Jandal (BJD) led by Bangladesh Supreme Party. However, within 24 hours, he changed his mind and submitted his nomination paper as a candidate of Bangladesh Congress.
The six parties in the Bangladesh Congress-led National Alliance include the People’s Rights Party (PRP), Bangladesh Unemployed Society (BABS), Bangladesh People’s Party, Bangladesh Green Party and Bangladesh Sat Sangamri Voters Party. The electoral symbol of the National Alliance is Dub.
Hero Alam said, due to the Dubai visit, it was not possible to verify the nomination papers properly before submitting them. He submitted nomination papers without signing a few documents including affidavits as he submitted nomination papers through personal assistants. Now will appeal tomorrow Monday against the decision to cancel the nomination papers. Even if you go to the High Court to get your candidature back.
Hero Alam also said that he has elected as an independent candidate in various places including Bogra. Then there were conspiracies about signatures containing the support of 1 percent of voters. For this, he has decided to choose the party nomination. Accordingly, Bangladesh Congress has filed nomination papers for Bogra-4 seat to fight on the dub symbol.
According to the District Election Officer’s office, the total number of voters in Bogra-4 constituency is 3 lakh 28 thousand 469 people. Hero Alam contested as an independent candidate (one-star symbol) in the Bogra-4 (Kahalu and Nandigram) and Bogra-6 (Sadar) constituencies on February 1. Among them, he lost by 834 votes to Jasdar AKM Rezaul Karim, one of the partners of the 14-party alliance in Bogra-4 constituency.
