During the press conference of Eden College Branch Chhatra League President Tamanna Jasmine Riva and General Secretary Razia Sultana, a clash took place with a section of the protesting Chhatra League. At least 10 people were injured. The incident took place in front of Eden College auditorium around 5:30 pm on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses said that a section of the Chhatra League had been protesting against the torture of Jannatul Ferdous, the vice-president of the college since Sunday morning. At this time, the followers of President Tamanna Jasmine Riva and General Secretary Razia Sultana were also seen taking a counter stance.
Jannatul Ferdous followers held a press conference at 1:00 p.m. and declared President Jasmine Riva and General Secretary Razia Sultan unwanted on the campus for their involvement in torture. In view of this, Riva and Razia announced to hold a press conference around 5:30 pm.
Before the start of the press conference, the followers of the two groups took opposite positions. At one point in the location, both groups clashed. Tamanna Jasmine Riva, President of Eden College Branch Chhatra League, was injured in the clash. On the other hand, Summita Baroi, vice-president of another group’s college branch, Chhatra League, was injured.
Later Riva was besieged for several hours by the followers of Jannatul Ferdous. After being blocked for about an hour, he was taken from the police-guarded campus to Dhaka Medical for treatment.
Meanwhile, both counter-complaints about the attack. BCL President Tamanna Jasmine Riva and General Secretary Razia Sultana protesting BCL Organizing Secretary Samia Akhter Baisakhi told Jugantar that Riva and Razia attacked themselves according to their pre-planned. We have been protesting since last night, if we had intended to attack them, we would have done it last night. Around 22 of our colleagues were injured in this attack, out of which five were seriously injured.
On the other hand, Riva Razia’s followers said that when they were holding a press conference, the agitators premeditatedly attacked them.
