The bride and her mother-in-law died of snakebite in Kushtia Khoksa. They are Zainab Begum (48) and her daughter-in-law Kamrunnahar (17). They died while undergoing treatment at Kushtia General Hospital on Tuesday morning.

Locals said that on Monday night, the family members of Abdus Chatter of Mamudanipur village of Jayanti Hazra Union went to sleep after having dinner. Around 2 am, the bride Kamrunnahar told her husband that something had bitten her waist. At the same time, the mother-in-law from the next room also said that something had bitten her hand.
When the condition worsened, they were first brought to the Upazila Health Complex around 6:30 am on Tuesday. From there the two were shifted to Kushtia General Hospital. While undergoing treatment there, first the bride and then her mother-in-law died.
