A man named Mohammad Ali (59) has been charged with mass beating to death for stealing cows at Dimla in Nilphamari.
The incident took place at Kastampara village in Balapara union of the upazila on Thursday night.The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali, son of late Zia Ali of Kastampara village under Balapara union.
According to police and local sources, the neighbors started shouting when they came to know about the theft of a cow from Ziarul’s house in the same village on Thursday night.
When the locals came forward to shout at them, some members of the gang of cow thieves were fleeing when Mohammad Ali was caught by the mob and was severely injured after being beaten by the mob.
On receiving the news, Dimla police rescued Mohammad Ali in an injured condition and admitted him to Dimla Upazila Health Complex. When his condition deteriorated, he died on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-charge of Dimla Police Station Sirajul Islam said Mohammad Ali’s body was recovered and brought to Dimla Police Station. So far no written complaint has been received in this regard. However, all legal activities
