Four people have been injured in a clash between two groups in Natore’s Gurudaspur upazila over the domination of Dharabarisha union. Ripon, 38, who was injured in the clash, was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The incident took place in Khakradaha area of Dharabarisha union around 7 pm on Wednesday. The injured have been admitted to Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex. Local MP Prof Md Abdul Quddus came to Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex to see the injured.
According to local sources, clashes erupted between Ripon and Habib Mandal, supporters of A-League in Khakradaha area, over dominance. Indigenous weapons were used and shots were fired during the clashes. Ripon Ali, 38, a former general secretary of Dharabarisha Union A-League, was shot dead on the spot. Besides, Maklesur Rahman (40) and Helal (45) were seriously injured in the incident. On the other hand, Habib Hossain supporter Arif Hossain (32) was seriously injured in the attack. The injured Ripon has been shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital from Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex as his condition is critical and the other three are being treated at the Upazila Health Complex.
Dr. Sharmin Islam, a doctor on duty at the Upazila Health Complex, said that a bullet was found in the leg of a patient named Ripon. He has been shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Gurudaspur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Matin said police went to the spot immediately after the incident. The situation has calmed down. Legal action is being taken after investigation.
