Ex-husbands have been accused of cutting the hands and hair of two housewives with a sharp blade in Gurudaspur, Natore. The incident took place on Friday night (January 4) at Khamarnachkair mahalla of the upazila. The two injured housewives are currently undergoing treatment at Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex.
Injured housewife Sukhi Khatun said that her house is in Khamarnachkair mahalla of the municipal headquarters. They are two sisters. The younger sister’s name is Sumi Khatun. They are the daughter of Hazrat Ali Mollah of that mahalla. Younger sister Sumi was married to Sabuj Ali of Puranpara mahalla of Chanchkair. Sukhi was also married to Alamgir Hossain of Puranpara mahalla. However, when Sukhi’s husband got married for the second time, there was unrest in the family. At one stage, Sukhi and Alamgir separated, said Sukhi’s husband Alamgir.

On the other hand, in a family quarrel, Sumi’s husband Sabuj Ali also went to the Natore court and divorced his wife on January 18. Both Sukhi and Sumi complained that Sabuj and Alamgir tried to get the signatures on the divorce papers and on Friday night to withdraw the previous case. Sabuj started beating his younger sister for not wanting to sign. When they refused to beat him, Sabuj, Alamgir and his wife Alamgir’s wife Rozina cut off Sukhi’s two hands with a blade. Moreover, at the same time they cut the hair and burn it. Sukhi and her sister Sumi want legal action against all those involved in the incident.
Sabuj and Alamgir Hossain denied the allegations and said that an attempt was being made to frame them with false accusations. Moreover, they have been separated. After the separation, there is no relationship with them.
Gurudaspur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Matin said a case has been registered in this regard. Necessary steps will be taken subject to investigation.
