A 9th class student has been raped in Bri-Chapila village of Chapila union in Gurudaspur upazila of Natore. The girl’s mother has filed a case against the accused. The accused Mehdi Hasan (22) is the son of Md. Abdur Rahim Sheikh of Bri-Chapila village.
The incident took place at around 12:30 pm on Saturday in Chapila village of Chapila union. The schoolgirl who was raped in the incident is currently admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
According to case documents and local sources, Mehdi Hasan, accused of love affair, asked the girl to come out of the house on her mobile phone around 12:30 pm on Saturday (January 29). At that time, when the girl came out of the house, he took her to the bamboo garden next door. The boy then ran away after forcibly raping the girl in a desolate place. At that time, the people of the area rescued the girl and took her to her house. When the girl fell ill, the family members admitted her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. In the incident, the boy’s family tried to settle the matter by intimidating the girl’s family. Later, with the help of locals, he filed a case with Gurudaspur police station on the night of January 30.
It was not possible to take his statement as accused Mehedi Hasan was absconding but Chapila UP Chairman Md. Mahabubur Rahman confirmed the incident and demanded exemplary punishment so that such incidents do not happen again.
Gurudaspur Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Matin confirmed the incident and said the girl’s mother had filed a rape case last night. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
