A teenage girl named Munni has died after her mother and daughter tried to commit suicide out of anger over her father’s second marriage. Mother Zaheda Begum has been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The incident took place at Mandalpara in Halsa union of Natore Sadar upazila. A case of unnatural death has been filed in this incident.
The deceased was identified as Munni, 20, daughter of Khorshed Mandal, a former UP member of Halsa Mandalpara village. She is a second year HSC student of Rani Bhabani Women’s College. And Zaheda Begum is the wife of Khorshed Alam.
According to locals, Khorshed Alam, a former UP member of Halsa Union, recently got married for the second time in secret. After learning this news, Khorshed Alam’s daughter Munni and his wife Zaheda Begum tried to commit suicide by hanging themselves in anger. Munni’s daughter was strangled to death in her own house. Police later recovered the body and sent it to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Later, Khorshed Alam’s wife Zaheda Begum was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Officer-in-charge of Natore Police Station Mansur Rahman said that based on the information of the locals, they went to Sadar Hospital and found out that Munni had died by hanging himself at home. The on-duty doctor sent her mother Zaheda Begum to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
