Police have been accused of vandalizing the house of Awami League leader in Dadua village of Dharabarisha union in Gurudaspur of Natore and abusing women in vulgar language.
The locals have also organized a human chain demanding punishment for the police involved in the incident. The victim’s family and locals staged a human chain on the road of Dadua Purbapara village of the upazila around 11:30 am on Tuesday. Locals and the victim’s family alleged that Mofiz, led by OC Abdul Matin of Gurudaspur Police Station, broke down the gate of his house late on Monday night and vandalized some furniture and stove along with a motorcycle. The incident took place at Ratan’s house in Dadua village of the upazila without heeding the rules and regulations. At the same time, they claimed that the women of the family were insulted in vulgar language. They strongly criticized the police for such biased behavior and demanded justice.
Meanwhile, the police say that Mofiz Haji-Saiful and Ratan Bahini went to five houses including the houses of Sentu, Kamal and Rafiqul Islam and hacked the gates and threatened them. Knowing this, they went there. There was no vandalism. They went there to calm the atmosphere. In fact, some people have been left homeless since the election of boat chairman UP chairman Abdul Matin Master, police said.
Dharabarisha Union Awami League general secretaries Md Ripon Ali and Mofiz Haji said he was the ward Awami League president. The Sentu-Kamal forces have been carrying out various terrorist activities in the area, including extortion and drug trafficking. They are being threatened in various ways and houses are being vandalized for voting for the boat. Instead of seeing the matter, the police are harassing us with false cases in our name. They demand justice for the incident in human bondage.
Explaining the incident, Dharabarisha UP Chairman said that first Dharabarisha Union Awami League General Secretary Md. Ripon Sardar called him and said that some police including OC of Gurudaspur Police Station broke the gate of Mofiz Hajir’s house in Dadua village and went inside Destroys furniture and stoves. After that, the truth of the incident was found through the news through people. The job of the police is to establish peace. It is not reasonable for them to harass each other if they do not do so. He strongly condemned and protested the incident.
Gurudaspur Police Station OC Abdul Matin said on his mobile phone that 20-25 people including Ripon Sardar and Awami League leader Mofiz Haji of Dharabarisha went to five houses including Sentu, Kamal and Rafiqul Islam at night and tried to take them hostage by knocking on the gate. After knowing the incident, they went there to calm down the situation. There was no vandalism or abuse inside the house. Just searched. They are enraged by the incident and are trying to tarnish the reputation and morale of the police.
