Police have arrested Lashkar Pramanik (42), accused in 23 cases, with 10 kg of cannabis in an anti-drug operation in Bogra’s Dhunat upazila. Son of Jain Uddin Pramanik of Bererbari village in Lashkar upazila. He was sent to Bogra District Jail from Dhunat Police Station on Thursday afternoon.
According to police and local sources, Lashkar has been committing various crimes in the area for a long time, including selling drugs. There are 22 previous cases against him in Bogra Sadar, Shahjahanpur, Nandigram, Sherpur, Sonatala, Gabtali and Dhunat police stations including arms, extortion, drugs, theft and snatching.
Lashkar has been arrested more than once in these cases. He was released on bail and was again involved in the same crime. Police raided Lashkar’s house in Bererbari village around 12 noon on Thursday after receiving information about drug sales. Sensing the presence of the police, the other drug dealers fled.
At that time, the police seized 10 kg of cannabis kept under the bed of Lashkar. Police have filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act against six people, including Lashkar-e-Taiba, on Thursday afternoon. There were 23 cases against him.
Dhunat Police Station OC Kripa Sindhu Bala said the arrested Lashkar along with 10 kg of cannabis was sent to the district jail through the court.
