Md. Atahar Hossain, the oldest journalist and retired assistant professor of Gurudaspur in Natore has passed away. He died of a heart attack at his residence on Tuesday, January 11 at 5 am. In his death, the people of Gurudaspur lost a good man. In this, people of various professions including journalists, political personalities and civil society are mourning. He was 65 years old at the time of his death.
According to local and family sources, Professor Md. Atahar Hossain started writing in 1986 through the national daily Ganakantha. Until his death he was involved in communalism. He used to write in many newspapers including Daily Nayadiganta. In his colorful journalistic life, he was steadfast in his professional responsibilities. He has fulfilled his professional responsibilities till the end of his life with devotion and fearlessness. His contribution to the long journalistic life was comparable. He was the founding president and life member of Chalon-sur-Sa প্রেসne. He was also the publisher and editor of his own newspaper Dainik Diba Ratri.
Prof. Md. Atahar Hossain Uploor was a retired Assistant Professor in Bangla Department of Khubjipur M. Hock Degree College. At the time of his death, he has left behind numerous admirers including his son and daughter.
