Police have recovered the body of an easybike driver named Latiful Islam Latif (22) from a roadside almond field in Boda upazila of Panchagarh. His body was recovered from an almond field on the side of Millgate-Mareya road in Boalimari Kallakata area of Benhari Banagram Union of the upazila on Saturday night.
Locals believe he was strangled to death. Police later recovered his body and sent it to the morgue of Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital for autopsy. However, his easy bike has not been found yet.
Usebike driver Latiful Islam’s house is in Magurapara area of Maidandighi union of Boda upazila. He is the son of late Khamir Uddin of the area. Latiful got married on December 10 and started a family. The killing, just a few days after the wedding, has raised various suspicions among the locals.
Police and Latiful’s family said Latiful left on Friday morning with an easybike. When his mother Latifa Begum called him at 6 pm, she said he had taken a rent at Tempukuria Bazar in Boda Upazila. Will be back home in half an hour. But after a few hours, Latifa, who did not return home, called her number again. Now the phone is available off. Then they started looking for him in different places. But nowhere to be found. In the morning, the locals informed the police when they saw the body of the youth lying in a roadside almond field in Boalimari Kallakata area. Police went to the spot and recovered the body and sent it for autopsy. The family of the deceased is preparing the case.
Latifa Khatun, the mother of the deceased, said that Latiful informed her of her return home on her mobile phone on Friday evening. He did not return home even after many nights. His mobile phone was found switched off even after the call. Later on Saturday morning when they went out to look for him, they came to know through the locals that the body of a man was lying in a nut field in Kallakata area of Benghari Union. Later I went to the spot and saw the body and identified it as Latiful’s body. I am demanding peace by bringing the culprits of this incident under the law.
Boda Police Station OC Abu Saeed Chowdhury said, “We are initially assuming that the killers left the place after killing the young man by suffocation.” It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. We are investigating the matter. Hopefully soon we will be able to arrest those involved in this incident as well as unravel the real mystery of the incident. However, the case is being prepared.
