The Rajshahi Cyber Tribunal has fined the husband Tk 5 lakh, including 10 years rigorous imprisonment, for spreading nude photos and videos of his wife on social media at Charghat in Rajshahi. Today (December 2) at 11.30 am, the court bench of Judge Ziaur Rahman pronounced the verdict. The accused Manik is the son of Saiful Islam of Jhikra village in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi.
According to the complaint, the convicted accused Manik was married to his wife six years ago. He has had 3 cases before him and was involved in immoral relations with more than one woman. So at one stage the victim was forced to divorce after six years of marriage. The accused then became enraged and spread some secret pictures and videos of their marriage through social media. The victim and her family filed a case in the Rajshahi Cyber Tribunal court.
The verdict in the case was announced this morning after a series of court proceedings and the accused was sent to jail.
Lawyer Ismat Ara said in the case, it is a very shameful and heinous crime. Everyone should refrain from committing such crimes. At the same time, the use of social media must raise awareness.
