Afghanistan injured in Friday bombings. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a mosque in the eastern province of Nangarhar. At least 12 people, including the imam, were reported injured.
Atal Shinwari, a local resident, said there was a loud explosion inside the mosque at around 1.30pm local time.
A Taliban official confirmed the death toll on condition of anonymity. However, he did not give any details in this regard.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the blast. However, in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, the militant group IS recently attacked several mosques during Friday prayers. Earlier attacks were carried out on Shiite mosques, but this time the mosque was attacked by Sunni Muslims.
A spokesman for the Nangarhar provincial government, Kari Hanif, told the Associated Press that the bomb had probably been planted inside a mosque. A doctor at a local hospital said at least three people had been killed in the blast.
