The ‘Durgatinashini Devi’ returned to ‘Kailase Devalaya’ through devotion, the biggest festival of Bengali Hindus in the autumn Durgotsab.The festival that started on the sixth day in Beltala to pay homage to ‘Anandamoyir’ for waking up, on the tenth day, is accompanied by the immersion of the idol on Friday.
According to the beliefs of the traditional religion, the goddess returned to her husband’s house in Kailash through devotion. A year later, in the new autumn, he will return to this land of ‘Father’s House’. According to the Hindu calendar, Goddess Durga this time came on horseback, went on a cradle.
The farewell ceremony of the Goddess at Gurudaspur began with the immersion of the idol in the Nandakunja river between 5 pm and 5:30 pm today.
Dhirendra Nath Ghosh, president of the Upazila Puja Celebration Parishad, told reporters, “Mother Durga has won today (Friday) by killing Mahishasur. That is why today is our day of joy, we celebrate. I wish victory to all irrespective of race, religion and caste. ”
Shri Asim Kumar Pal, General Secretary of Sarvajanin Puja Udjapan Parishad, told Daily Banalata that this year, the joyous festival was less due to Corona, but due to the religious frenzy, there is a volatile atmosphere all over the country due to which there was some ebb and flow of joy.
“Worship has been done in 34 mandapas in Gurudaspur this year. Everyone has been told to come and worship the idol according to the rules of health. ”
The main ritual of Durga Puja started on Monday, the sixth day of Navratri. However, communal incitement on Wednesday and attacks on mandapas and temples in several districts have hurt the spirit of the festival.
After the Maha Nabami, on Friday morning, in the ‘Vihit Puja’ of Vijaya Dashmi, besides the sixteenth puja, the goddess idol is worshiped with jara, pan and shapla dala.
At the end of the mirror, the devotees put a mirror in front of the idol and saw the goddess in it and said goodbye to her for a while. Basically, the classical devotion of the goddess is completed through this. The recitation of the mantra takes place from the idol and bringing the ‘mother’ back to the heart of the devotee from the pot is called abandonment.
Before returning to the in-laws’ house, the female benefactors greeted the goddess Durga with vermilion, drink and durba; Through this, it is prayed that the earth will become green after cutting the rust. However, in the epidemic situation, no game of Sindur was organized again.
In the afternoon, devotees came to the river ghat with idols from different places in the upazila to immerse themselves in the traditional music of conch and uludhwani, khol-kartal-dhak-dhol.
After arriving at the ghat, the devotees used to burn incense for the last time. At the end, the goddess is taken to the boat and recited by the priest.
Gurudaspur Police Station OC Abdul Matin said all security measures have been taken to ensure the smooth completion of the idol. Besides the police, members of the Special Forces and Ansar are also on duty.
