A 15-month-old boy named Mahfuza Begum died after falling into a bucket of water in Panchagarh’s Tetulia upazila. The incident took place on Saturday (October 9) morning in Murkhagachh area of ​​Bhajanpur union upazila. The deceased was identified as Mahfuza, daughter of Abdul Gafur of the area.

Speaking to police and the victim’s family, it is learned that Mahfouz’s father Abdul Gafur has been suffering from fever for the past few days. Later on Saturday morning, mother Mahbuba Begum put Mahfuza to sleep on the bed of her house next to her father and brought water in a bucket and poured water on her husband Gafur’s head. Later, when the child’s father wanted to go out of the house, he left the bucket of water next to the bed and went out of the house with her husband Gafur.

At that time, when the child Mahfuza came to the edge of the bed, he inadvertently fell on the bucket. Later, the mother and father of the child came to the house and searched for Mahfuza but could not find her. They found the child lying on the ground in a bucket of water. Later, family members rescued Mahfuza and took her to Bhajanpur Union Health Center, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Tetulia Model Police Station Abu Chayem Mia confirmed the death of a child who fell into a bucket of water and said that an unnatural death (UD) case has been filed with Tetulia Model Police Station.
