Bangladesh football team is ahead by one goal against Sri Lanka in the SAF Championship. Jamal Bhuiyan took the lead in the 58th minute through a penalty kick by Tapu Varman.
The Bangladesh team will play against Sri Lanka at the Mall National Stadium in Maldives on Friday at 5 pm.
Jamal Bhuiyan dominated the opening match of the SAF against the Lankans from the very beginning. Ball possession is also ahead. However, neither team scored a goal before the break. Coming back from the break, Bangladesh got a penalty in handball inside the D-box. Tapu Barman put the team ahead with a goal from the penalty spot in the 57th minute.
Bangladesh has faced Sri Lanka twice in Safe. Where the two teams won 1 by one. However, Bangladesh has won 4 of the last 6 shows. This time Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Nepal are playing safe.
The SAF Championship will be held in a round robin league system. Each team will face each other once in the league. The two teams with the highest points will play in the final on October 16.
India have won the title seven times in the previous 12 editions of the competition. Maldives has won the title twice. Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka have once again tasted the crown of the best.
