Police have recovered the bodies of two sisters hanging from the roof of a house in Majumdari area of Sylhet city. Their bodies were recovered on Tuesday (September 21) morning.
The deceased were identified as Rani Begum, 34, daughter of Kalim Ullah and Fatema Begum, 28. Among them, Rani studied up to ninth class and Fatema up to Masters.
Citing locals, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Amberkhana police outpost Mofizul Islam said family members saw the two sisters hanging from a pillar on the roof of the house in the morning. Later the news was given to the police.
He added that one of his four sisters was married. He lives in the UK. The rest are not married yet. The members of this family seem somewhat abnormal. They are repressed. They do not have much contact with relatives.
Airport Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khan Mohammad Mainul Zakir of Sylhet Metropolitan Police said it was initially believed that the two sisters had committed suicide. However, the reason for his suicide has not been confirmed yet. Their bodies were recovered and sent to the morgue of MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Details of the death will be known after receiving the report.
