Bangladesh has a history of winning ODI series against New Zealand more than once. So far there has been no memory of winning the series in the T20 against the Queens. This time Bangladesh won the T20 series for the first time by making history.
Mahmudullah’s side secured the series with one match in hand in the five-match T20 series against New Zealand.
Before winning the toss on Wednesday, New Zealand lost all their wickets before the scheduled 20 overs and scored 93 runs. In reply, Bangladesh chased down a small target and left the field with a big win of 8 wickets before the allotted 20 overs.
Bangladesh could not make a good start by playing at the target of 94 runs. Liton Das and Mohammad Naeem scored four runs in the first two overs of the innings. In the third over, Liton hit four to Cole McConchie with a midwicket. The wicket fell with the next ball. Liton was caught by Finn Allen for 6 runs. The Kiwi fielder made a great catch at deep midwicket.
World-class all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan also returned to the pavilion after Liton was out. He was dismissed by Ejaz Patel for just 7 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim returned to the dressing room in the same over after Shakib was dismissed.
After Mushfiqur was dismissed for zero, captain Mahmudullah Riyad came to the crease. Settled, Mohammad Naeem resisted. However, Naeem went back to the dressing room after being run out for 6 runs. Before he was out, 29 runs from 35 balls came from his bat. In the end, captain Mahmudullah Riyad ensured the victory with Afif.
